It is always a good time to strengthen your immune system, and there’s never been a more important time than right now!  Your body relies on your immune system to defend it from health issues including acute and chronic conditions — so that you can enjoy a higher level of wellbeing with improved energy, resilience and resistance to illness.

This is a particularly good time to connect with your immune system and awaken your inner healing energy, because of cooler temperatures and the  current virus outbreaks.  And yet, while the season and environment has an effect on your wellbeing, much bigger factors are  your fear, anxiety, and stress levels. The root cause of health challenges is stress: physical stress, mental stress, emotional stress, even spiritual stress.

We live in stressful times, with many concerns and fears stemming not only from our health and the wellbeing of the world we live in, but also from our work, our expectations, our habits, and our past experiences.

The immune system is affected by stress, and it also has an effect on stress. 

As your stress level rises, your immune system’s capability drops. And as your immune system becomes less effective, you experience more stress because you get tired and unwell more easily. The two are interconnected in a way that you can never separate, so it’s necessary to heal your immune system and reduce your stress together, at the same time.

To do this requires a holistic approach, which is what Wisdom Healing Qigong is all about. Here’s how to fortify your immune system through short, simple practices on a daily basis.

Healing stress and immune system in unison

At its source, all stress and sickness is energetic. To heal it, we must unblock and increase our energy flow, and connect to the universal source of natural energy so that we don’t get depleted again in future.

Whether you look at it from the perspective of modern medical science, traditional healing wisdom, or even quantum physics or classical philosophy, everything in existence is made of energy. That includes your body’s organs, your thoughts and feelings, your spirit, your home, your loved ones, and the entire universe surrounding and nourishing us all.

When we relax our bodies, calm our minds and emotions, and open ourselves to connect with the natural energy of life, we automatically begin to heal on every dimension. This is how the universe works.

But relaxing can be surprisingly difficult! Often your experience of relaxation is so affected by your expectations and worries that purposely trying to relax only makes you tense up more.

So we have to retrain ourselves to experience deep relaxation and awaken to that energetic connection. We have to train ourselves to connect that energy flow with intent, to create change. Then you can open your energy from tension and contraction to flow and vitality, activating the immune system along with the energy system.

There are 3 things that it’s helpful to know as you begin to develop a Wisdom Healing Qigong practice to fortify your immune system:

1: You are the world’s leading expert on your body.

You are more connected to your body than anyone else. You can feel it. You’re living in it, you sense what it senses.

The more you pay attention to it and focus on it, the more you learn. You don’t need to be able to put a name or label on what you sense from your body, because you’re sensing the energy body within — many people have no words for what they experience. What matters is the experience itself, not the words.

You might think you’ve already tried everything for what ails you, conventional treatments, alternative therapies, medications or supplements or diet or exercise, everything.

But have you tried fully exploring your internal energies and healing capabilities?

You have exclusive, unlimited access to your body and everything it can tell you. All you need to do is learn to connect with that energy and awareness.

2: Energy is different in different parts of your body.

This is why we see concepts such as meridians, chakras, and energy gates in different traditions, because there is more to it than simply your whole body being made of energy.

Each organ and system has its own energy with its own purpose and function, and we use different techniques to connect with them. That’s how we are able to access the body’s energy system as a whole.

Your immune system is concentrated in your liver, spleen, and gall bladder. Those are the organs with which you fight off viruses, overcome illness, and recycle or remove toxins from the system.

Here’s where it gets really exciting… As well as purifying in the sense of breaking down toxins or viruses, if you become able to perceive what’s happening on a deeper energetic level, you’ll also see that your immune system is cleansing and recycling your energy. It’s an energy purification system that goes far beyond fighting disease.

3: Your body’s systems must work together as one system.

Every organ and system in your body has its own role to play in your health, healing and wellbeing, serving the greater good of the body as a whole.

So when you improve the function of your immune system, this supports all the other organs and systems for the body’s good. When you activate your energetic body, you activate every system and organ, right down to the smallest cell.

Activating your energy optimizes your immune response along with every other function of your body, raising the baseline on your health as a whole.

And your emotions play a big part in this, too.

How emotional stress and energy affect health

As we already discussed, stress is the root cause of most health issues. Not only the stress of today or this week, but the internalized stress that can build up over years… even over a lifetime.

Emotional stress is incredibly powerful. It can affect your feelings, thoughts and behaviors long after a traumatic experience. Even without specific trauma, feeling a sense of disconnectedness and dissatisfaction in your day-to-day life is enough to create stress.

And if you’re only experiencing physical or mental stress rather than emotional stress, well, unfortunately having a lot of physical or mental stress tends to be upsetting! Which means that it generates emotional stress too: anger, sadness, fear, and other very potent emotions.

That stress, in all its forms, affects your energy and your immune response.

You may develop an autoimmune condition in which your immune system becomes over-reactive and attacks your body’s own cells. This is the response behind chronic illness such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, lupus, or inflammatory bowel disease for example.

Or you might find that stress has a depleting effect on your immune system, causing it to slow down and stop defending your body effectively from threats to your wellbeing such as viruses, bacteria, parasites, or cancerous cells.

To address the stress issues within the immune system, you have to understand your whole body system as an energy system and address the energetic functions of the system, beyond the conventions of medical science.

With regular practice of Wisdom Healing Qigong, you can awaken and balance troubled emotions and troubled systems, including your immune system, and bring them into harmony with the rest of your body’s systems and energies. It doesn’t matter if you have an autoimmune condition, an immune deficiency, or no diagnosis at all; the practices improve your energy and that improves your wellness on all levels.

Simple meditation and movement to fortify your immune system

You can repeat these practices every day, or more than once a day if you’re able, to connect with your body and with the energy beyond your body. Standing, sitting, or lying down are all fine. The more you practice, the more you benefit from it!

When you practice, you are training your mind to connect with your body and with life energy, which has the benefit of calming and focusing your thoughts as well as activating energy to support your physical wellness. Plus you’re reprogramming your emotional responses at the same time. That opens up your capacity for emotional freedom, wellbeing, and peace, which reduces your stress so that your immune system can maintain your health more effectively.

At times your practice may be deeply relaxing; at times it may be more intense. Don’t be alarmed if you feel hyper-energized, or if you experience extreme clarity or unusual perception. Open yourself to embody that energy and allow it to nurture you. Continue your practice, more gently if you wish, and take a rest or a calming walk afterward if you need to. Your capacity will increase as your progress grows.

Let go of any expectations or attachments to the outcomes. You want to concentrate on experiencing the practice, with the intention of benefitting your wellbeing but with no expectations. Don’t worry about things like how you’re breathing, how many times you’ve repeated a movement, or “Is it working yet?”
